Review : Power – Low Voltage

Last year Ravi Teja has given a hit film Balupu. Nearly a year later, he is back with the same director Babi in the film Power. He has appeared as a powerful police officer in this film after Vikramarkudu. However, the film did not succeed as much as it could have been. Though trailers were very rich and Taman’s tunes were touching the hearts of audiences, the film’s chances of being a block buster are bleak; a big disappointment for A city audience.

Story:

A police officer namely Baldev, ACP, using the name of Asha foundation, indulges in corrupt activities and enters into agreements with the corrupt people in the government. Especially, he gets into a deal with the Home Minister and his brother by promising them to get back to them an important person who is a key witness in a murder case. But, there is a good motive behind this corrupt deal. What is that motive? What is the link between Tirupathi and Baldev? Who have become victims because of the actions of these two people?

As part of this there are two love stories and two heroines enter the narrative to enthuse audiences. In continuation, audiences also get an opportunity to hear two sentiment filled flash backs, four double meaning dialogues, and another four old cinema points which the director tried to weave around the story.

Casting:

Ravi Teja acts in double shade roles in his routine style but the usual energy of Ravi Teja in the earlier films is conspicuously missing. Heroine Hansika has got to her share three scenes and three songs. Regina part turns even worse with four scenes and one song. Brahmanandam and Posani had given a routine comedy. Rest of the characters acted in their usual selves.

The director has done the film completely with an eye on hero Ravi Teja. Most of the film reminds us the scenes of Vikramarkudu. Though the director succeeded in bringing the story to the desired level, it has a number of short comings. The dialogues bore the audiences. In the second half, Brahmanandam comedy brings some relief to the viewers. However, the film is not as impressive as it is expected of.

Technical:

Jayanan Vincet photography is satisfactory. Taman tunes are impressive. Production values are also satisfactory.

Analysis:

Overall the film touching the hearts of audiences is bleak. Next week Aagadu is going to be released. If Power can make any collections before, it should. Otherwise, the film can be restricted to B & C Centres.

***The ratings and analysis of the above reviews do not reflect the opinion of the audience. It is merely the reviewer’s perception and has no connection with the box office collections whatsoever.
